India and Bangladesh play a short test match series in Bangladesh in January month of 2010, which will be India's 4th trip to neighbouring country. Following are informations related to this cricket series :-

Match dates

A two test match series it will be, first test is from 17th Jan at Chittagong and 2nd test from 24th Jan at Dhaka.

Rookie Sudeep Tyagi gets his maiden test call. India test squad for Bangladesh tour has Sachin Tendulkar coming back after Mumbai vetern decided to skip the one day triseries.. Tendulkar will form the same strong middle order for visitors with Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman who too don't play shorter version on tour earlier.

MS Dhoni is yet to lose a test match as Indian captain, nor has India ever lost or even draw a test against Bangladesh and they should have it easy against lowest ranked test team this time, although Bangla tigers are expected to be competitive in home conditions.

Subramaniam Badrinath, the right handed middle order batsman, has been axed from the side that featured against Sri Lanka, without playing a match while Dinesh Karthik returns (not sure as keeper or as batsman). Murali Vijay will be opening batsman in waiting with first choice Gautam Gambhir and Virendra Sehwag. Yuvraj Singh will bat at number six.

Indian selectors have opted for 3 spinners for Bangladesh test series, with Harbhajan Singh ~ the off spinner, Amit Mishra ~ the leg spinner and Pragyan Ojha ~ the left arm orthodox spinner.

Indian pace attack has one major change with Sudeep Tyagi, the Utter Pradesh and Chennai Super kings bowler, given his maiden test call to partner experienced Zaheer Khan. Ishant Sharma finds himself back into International arena although he hasn't had much rhythm of late. S Sreesath made a solid comeback into Indian test team with a man of match performance against Sri Lanka couple of months ago and will be second choice medium pacer in the 16 member squad.

Dates : India vs Bangladesh 1st test from 17 to 21 January 2010 at Chittagong and 2nd test from 24th to 28th before Indians return home to play South Africans.

Shakib Al Hasan will captain Bangladesh in test series in absense of Mashrafe Mortaza. Bangladesh squad for tests against India still doesn't have their best player = Mashrafe Mortaza, who is close to fitness after his knee injury and may comeback for second test match.

Shakib Al Hasan will captain Bangladesh who have only drawn once and lost 4 of 5 tests against India. Having said that, Bangladeshis are fresh from their first ever overseas test series victory in West Indies the last time they played test cricket and are supposed to pose problems for current world number 1 team India, specially at home.

Shahriar Nafees, having broken his ties with rebel Indian cricket league (ICL), makes a comeback into Bangladesh test squad. Nafees last played a test back in March 2008 against South Africa. experienced Mohammad Ashraful, Mahmudullah Riyad and Roqibul Hasan will form a strong middle order with Nafees for Bangla tigers.

Bangladesh selectors have opted for 3 other openers, all left handers, in Tamim Iqbal, Junaid Siddique and Imrul Kayes.

Home team have concentrated on fast bowlers more than spinners with Shahadat Hossain, Rubel Hossain and young Shafiul Islam who made his international debut during triseries earlier on tour. left arm spinner Abdur Razzak has been overlooked for Enamul Hossain Junior in squad for 14.

Mahbubul Islam, the 26 year old right arm fast bowler who made his debut against New Zealand lin 2008 but didn't play a single game in 2009, has been given another chance.

Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury stadium in Chittagong, which has so far hosted 6 tests, gets the first game (none won by Bangladesh, 5 lost) while Shere-Bangla stadium in Mirpur in Dhaka will stage the second test match. Bangla stadium has so far seen 4 tests, none won by Bangladesh, losing thrice.

Bangladesh played their first ever test match against India back in year 2000, 5 in total so far and India have won all of them. Interestingly, all those tests have also been in Bangladesh only.

Innings + 239 runs is biggest win, for India of course.
