Amritsar: Manoj Tiwary`s unbeaten 102 went in vain as Central Zone shot out East Zone for 290 to reach the semifinals on the basis of their first innings lead in the weather-hit quarterfinal match of the Duleep Trophy which ended in a draw here today.

Play started half an hour after the lunch on the fourth and final day on which only 47.2 overs could be bowled at the historic Gandhi Ground here.

Overnight batsmen Arindam Das (52) completed his half century in company of IR Jaggi before being dismissed by R P Singh.

The East Zone batsmen got starts but couldn`t convert them as Singh and Piyush Chawla scalped three wickets each and Jalaj Sexena bagged two to bowl their rivals out within 300 in 78.2 overs.

Tiwary waged a lonely battle and reached his 123-ball 103 included seven hits to the fence and three sixes.
