India, Pak clash in U-19 WC quarterfinal

Lincoln (New Zealand): Their bilateral sporting ties hit by the rising political temperature on both sides of the border, India and Pakistan will square off in what promises to be a high-voltage quarterfinal of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup here on Saturday.

India finished second in Group A after defeating Hong Kong and Afghanistan before giving in to England in their last league engagement.

After doing well in the beginning, the young Indian batsmen came a cropper in the match against England but skipper Ashok Maneria is not worried.

"Although we lost, we're pretty confident. With one loss a good team doesn't become bad," Maneria said.

India would be hoping that talented fast bowler Saurabh Netrawalkar would deliver with the new ball in favourable conditions.

Pakistan topped Group D after a good fight with the West Indies and Bangladesh.

They would like Muhammad Babar Azam to continue his good form as the talented batsman has scored 260 runs at an average of 130 at the top of the order.

Pakistan captain Azeem Ghumman said his side will go into the match with high confidence.
